Meet Our Doctors
Our doctors are caring, informative, and experienced. To best help you and your pets, our veterinarians attend ongoing educational seminars to help them remain current with advancements in veterinary medicine. Our veterinary technicians and receptionists are passionate about your pet’s health care and continue with educational training to help ensure you and your pet receive the care that is needed.
Maritess D. Tinio, DVM
Veterinarian, Medical Director
Dr. Tinio graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and began her full-time tenure at Cedar Way Veterinary Clinic in 2013. Her professional interests encompass behavior management, preventative care, and emergency medicine, often serving as a relief clinician at local emergency clinics. Dedicated to ensuring each pet feels at ease during their visits, she employs patience and a gentle approach.
When not at work, she shares her life with a neurotic, work-in-progress Shiba Inu named Kasper and a former barn cat named Joy. She finds pleasure in traveling both domestically and internationally, cherishing moments with her close-knit extended family and friends, and exploring her creative and artistic passions.
Jacquelyn L. Hasson, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Jackie grew up on Long Island, NY, is a Cornell University graduate, and in 1996 graduated from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She brings years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery. She understands our bond with our animals and strives to provide the best medical care for your pet. Dr. Jackie is Fear Free Certified and is passionate about minimizing stress whenever possible for your pet. Her special interests include preventative medicine, surgery, dentistry, and oral surgery, having completed advanced training in dental local anesthesia, periodontal and oral surgery, and extraction techniques. She enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, reading, and spending time with her husband and three children in her free time. They share their home with two cats, Hunter and Caspur, and a Russian tortoise.
Laura Daily, DVM
Relief Veterinarian
Dr. Daily graduated from the University of Illinois Veterinary School. With 8 years of experience in veterinary medicine, she specializes in behavioral medicine and pain relief. She has two cats named Toby and Biscotti.
In her free time, she indulges in reading, baking, playing volleyball, and cherishing moments with her husband, Frank.
Jack Engels, DVM
Relief Veterinarian
Dr. Engels studied veterinary medicine at the University of Illinois. At home, he shares his life with three dogs named Matte, Cocoa, and Tiny, two cats named Mimi and Mama, and fish. In his leisure time, Jack delights in exploring history, especially US history, indulging in reading, and testing his knowledge of old movie trivia.

Abel
Practice Manager
Dr. Abel Garcia love for animals began when his father first put him in a saddle at just three months old. He earned his degree from the University of Veracruz, College of Veterinary Medicine, and has since gained extensive experience in both privately owned clinics and corporate animal hospitals. Dr. Garcia specializes in emergency medicine, critical care, and general practice. He also owns and operates an equine boarding and training facility in Chicago’s south suburbs. In his leisure time, Dr. Garcia and his husband enjoy exploring historic towns, visiting wineries, and spending time with their pets.
Jenny, CVT
Jenny started her career in 1998 as a Kennel Attendant/Grooming Assistant. She later became a Veterinary Receptionist and eventually earned her license as a Veterinary Technician after completing the required program. Growing up on a farm, Jenny was surrounded by animals from a young age and always knew she wanted to pursue a career in animal care. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, camping, and spending quality time with her family. Jenny shares her home with her dog, Roo, three cats—Bashful, Renegade, and Daisy—and three rats named Meemers, Goose, and Bean.
Stephanie, CVT
Stephanie completed her education at Fox College and has been in veterinary care for 3 years. Growing up surrounded by animals, she currently has a dog named Nadia, a cat named Aurora, a frog named Jelly, and two Guinea Pigs named Reese and Butterscotch. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, watching movies, playing video games, practicing archery, exploring animation, and listening to music.
Janessa
Technician
Janessa brings over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine to our team. She balances her professional life with a loving family, including her husband, their 1-year-old daughter, and two cherished dogs, Daphne and Knox. Outside of work, Janessa enjoys immersing herself in books, attending concerts, and spending quality time with friends.
Vanida
Vanida graduated from Lewis University and has been working in veterinary care for a year. She shares her home with two cats named Misty and Snowy, as well as a dog named Stormy. In her free time, she enjoys watching TV, listening to music, and playing video games. Her favorite movie/book is Harry Potter.
Nicole
Lead Receptionist
Nicole has worked in veterinary care for 2 years. At home, she cares for three dogs named Gomez, Morticia, and Johny, as well as eight goldfish. Her passion for animals extends to training dogs and caring for all types of animals. During her leisure time, Nicole likes playing pool, taking walks, and watching movies with her husband.
Cory
Receptionist
Cory is relatively new to the veterinary field, fulfilling a lifelong dream of working with animals. She is thrilled to be part of a clinic that cares for her pets and family. Her furry companions include a golden retriever named Hunter, two guinea pigs named Mocha and Chip, and a turtle named Raphael. In her free time, she enjoys activities involving her children. She also enjoys rescuing animals, reading, and writing.

Receptionist
Kathy has been working in the veterinary field since 2022. She is passionate about fundraising for local animal causes and has a large number of pets. In her spare time, Kathy enjoys gardening and spending time with her animals.
Caitlin
Veterinary Assistant
Caitlin is one of our Veterinary Assistants. She has been with Cedar Way Vet since 2021. She has a poodle named Bunnie, 4 Rats, and 2 Gerbils. In her free time, she likes to read mystery thriller novels and hopes to work with horses someday.
